UMA KARMARKAR KAPOOR
DIRECTOR
Uma Kapoor is a Performing Arts Educator with a passion for creative movement, self-expression, empowerment and community. She dreams of 'fun fitness and freedom’ for all, through the medium of dance. She has won more than 4 Best Choreography awardsand conducted dance workshops at Dr. Reddy’s, Colgate and Bloomberg. Through the years, her nano, minor, junior/senior, adult teams have won over 30 competition awards. Recently her NachNation team was recipient of Outstanding Technical Achievement twice at the Zee TV’s national level competition DanceUsaDance 2018. Uma is a AFAA certified Instructor and offers NachFit – a Bollywood workout program .
Uma’s work in Children’s Theatre was lauded by leading Indian newspaper The Hindu. An MBA graduate from S.I.B.M Pune, Uma served in Tata Consultancy Services’ Management Consulting Division and was consultant to the Planning Commission of India before heading out on her journey of Performing Arts.
KAVYA KAPOOR, Instructor and Assistant Choreographer
She is currently a college student at The College of New Jersey. At the age of six, she began her dance training under the instruction of Uma Kapoor. In her dance journey of 10 years, Kavya has won innumerable dance competitions and danced many various styles. Recently, Kavya received a high gold for her solo and won first place for her duet at Starbound National Talent Competition.
Kavya is a lead dancer/instructor for the Junior/Senior team, an instructor for the nano team/minor team, and frequent dancer on NachNation youtube videos.
